Gertrude (Judy) Rowe, Sand Lake Town Historian, is a good friend
of SAR and the Saratoga Battle Chapter. She provided much assistance
and advice to Dennis Marr during his tenure as chapter Registrar.
Over the years, Judy has referred over 100 new members to SAR in
numerous states.
In recognition of her long and dedicated assistance to the SAR
and Saratoga Battle Chapter, Judy was previously awarded the SAR
Medal of Appreciation and the SAR Daughters of Liberty Medal, the
highest SAR award for ladies.
During Judy's hospitalization this past summer, her home was burglarized.
Taken, in addition to irreplaceable family heirloom jewelry, was all
of Judy's DAR insignia; taken also were the two medals that we had
presented to her. Dennis Marr suggested that the chapter offer to
replace these medals for her, and the officers unanimously concurred.
At the Christmas Party for Judy's Fort Crailo Chapter of the DAR on
10 December 2005, Dennis Marr had the honor of presenting Judy
with her replacement medals. She was very moved, and truly appreciated
the gesture. The officers of her chapter expressed their heartfelt
thanks to Saratoga Battle for its thoughtfulness.
