The Saratoga Battle Chapter is accepting submissions for the Sons of the American Revolution Youth Video Contest, offering cash and other prizes
to students in grades 6 through 12 for creating videos on an American Revolutionary War topic.
As the region embraces its pivotal role in the nation's founding 250 years ago, the contest offers an opportunity for local students to give
thought to the many blessings Patriots bestowed on future generations.
The Chapter contact, until a chapter member volunteers to take on the project, is Chapter President Edward Munger Jr.
Participants will receive chapter-level awards in addition to the opportunity to win cash prizes as listed below.
Those interested in learning more can reach out via email to: president@saratogabattle-sar.org.
Submissions are due by December 31, 2025. A committee will review them for conformance with any technical requirements and move them on to
the next step. All are due to the ESSSAR by January 30, 2026.
Here are details of the exciting contest, from our Empire State Society, Sons of the American Revolution Youth Video Contest Chairman Gary T. Lane:
"The SAR Youth Video Contest is entering its second year with participation from the Empire State Society, and it has already become an exciting
program known for its ease of participation and straightforward judging. Students have embraced the creative opportunities it provides, and we
are eager to build on last year's success.
This contest gives students the chance to share what they know about the American Revolution in video form. Contestants can tell us about a
person, battle, document, or event during the American struggle for independence and do it in a fun and engaging way. The key is for them to
BE CREATIVE! Projects could be filmed or animated, presented as a cable news broadcast, a pretend movie trailer, a music video,
or even a rap battle.
The subject of the entry should focus on an event, personality, document, or topic about the American Revolution. An emphasis on the 250th
anniversary of the Revolution is recommended."
