Sword Surrender Site Ceremony
On Saturday June 03, 2013 the newest addition to the Saratoga National Historical Park
lands was celebrated. The 22 acre parcel just south of the Village of Schuylerville and
in the Town of Saratoga includes, according to soldier diaries, the spot where General
John Burgoyne surrendered his sword to General Horatio Gates.
The site, scheduled for completion in 2015, will include a marker
depicting the surrender, a pavilion type structure; interpretive signage and walkways.
